Our Common Larcinese Ancestor
Ilio Larcinese
While there is no doubt we are all related to the Bernardino de Larcenese from the previous web page, we are not certain if we stem from his direct lineage or his brother Giacomo also mentioned in the same document. What I have been able to determine however is the generations that have been the genesis of the entire Larcinese family from the United State to Australia to Argentina and throughout Europe.
We cannot yet determine the first bearers of the Larcenese name, the multiple branches of the Larcinese family for a small town like Gessopalena needed to be better defined, even though our surname is still very small and uncommon– after all, a “Francesco Larcinese” would not have any real impact in Gessopalena since so many Francesco’s existed. The ‘nicknames’ given pertained to certain branches and helped define where that Larcinese was from or who they ‘belonged’ to. So if two Larcinese Francesco’s from two families were together (each from different lineage) each would take on the nickname of that branch, in this case we can use Francesco Mulino while another would take the name Francesco Paolino (another Larcinese nickname described below) or however it applied.
There are only a few ‘branches’ of the Larcinese family and these Larcinese family lines were broken down into these ‘clan’ names: Mulino, Panzette, Paolino, Sardelli, Ziisippe, Mulino/Paolino.
The Panzette, Mulino and Paolino lines developed from Paolino Larcinese born in Gessopalena (29, June 1690) and his wife Caterina di Martino, born (1697) in nearby town of Civitella Messer Raimondo. Paolino had three sons that started there own families in different areas of Gessopalena: Carmine Larcinese, the oldest son was given the ancient Larcinese lands mentioned in the will and testament of Bernardino de Larcenese in La Valle: (Arcione, Fonte Rossa, Sologna and Colle Ianni) and also lands in Vicenne and Pietra and this line today makes up the Mulino line, Carmine had children that went on to be known as the Mulino/ Paolino line and the Sardelli line. The second born son of Paolino was Pasquale and he was given lands and homes in Contrada dell Annunziata, Vicenne, Morrone, Isoline, La Scrima and la Bracciola The 3rd born son, Nobile inherited the Larcinese lands in Calderalli.
Paolino had an older brother Domenico Angelo born (January 1686) who passed away while his children were still quite young as they were living with Paolino at his home in Morrone (Catasto Onciaro dell’Universita della terra dell Gesso Palena Abruzzo Citra 1747, page 135)
The son of Domenico Angelo, Angelo Antonio Larcinese’s family line was the Ziisippe lineage and current research does not have any record of Paolino or ancient lands with this line.
So while the lines mentioned above go back to the 1690 and Paolino Larcinese, the deceased brother was also a “contributor”. If we step back to THEIR father Nobilli de Larcinese we can go back one more generation to the “Adam” of all Larcinese’s in the world today (and they have all been connected) to the grandfather of Paolino and Domenico Angelo- Ilio Larcinese (Ilius Larcinesus) and his wife the “Eve” Berardina Di Fabrizio, they were married August 19, 1635. The act and their dowry for the wedding is as follows:

"In the name of God Amen - In the year 1635, on the day 19th of the month of December in the land of Gessopalena and in the home of Nardo and Isidoro de Fabrizio in their known territory in my presents, undersigned notary Orazio Sirolli of the land of Gesso and of the judge and witnesses called to this purpose
On this day and in this place and in my presence appeared Ilius Larcinese of Gessopalena acting for himself and his heirs on the one side, and Nardo and Isidoro de Marino de Fabrizio of the same land also acting for themselves and their heirs on the other side.
Said Ilio, to the purpose of marriage with the will of God of himself on the one side and Berardina de Marino de Fabrizio sister of said Nardo and Isidoro on the other side, receives for Berardina from her beloved brothers as dowry the below described items…
Articles of linen and canopy, 23, one blanket of the value of 10 carlini, a sack (mattress) value 25 carlini, a piumaccio (lighter mattress) 7 carlini, sheets carlini 20, cloth for the value of 4 ducati, one cortina (?) for 6 arms and braids of canopy value 15 carlini, a barrel value 30 carlini..
folium 6 left, 7 right, 7 left, 8 right - emptio (land sale) to Ilio Larcinese from Virgilio Accettella - the land is in the area called "La Bracciola" – Ilio is declared as “eiusdem terrae”, that is, of the same land
All birth, death, marriage, dowry, church donations and real estate transactions lead all Larcinese lines back to Ilio. The records also indicate he died at 80 years old in 1680- so it gives us a birth date of 1600 or 1599 which would make him the son of Blasio or Baldasarre de Larcenese mentioned in the Bernardino will and testament from 1580. Part of the mystery in this era is the presence of two other Larcinese men mentioned once only, and never to be mentioned again: Matteo Larcinese and Egidio Larcinese. Some of my research points to Egidio and Ilio being the same person, there is not other mention of Matteo nor descendents in any of the archives researched in Gessopalena, Chieti or Lanciano- either he (they) died shortly after they were mentioned at a young age or were only in Gessopalena for a short period and moved elsewhere.
